UNLOCK joins forces with Impact Hub Belgrade and Wikimedia Serbia for its 3rd edition
Together, we are stronger. This is why, this year, we have joined forces with two strong partners to jointly design and implement the third edition of UNLOCK: Impact Hub Belgrade and Wikimedia Serbia.

With the Impact Hub Belgrade and Wikimedia Serbia by our side we are shifting the geographical focus of UNLOCK 2022 to cover the German-speaking region (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) as well as the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia); and we invite teams from both regions to participate in the UNLOCK program!
Together we can achieve more. So we are excited to welcome to the party:
- Impact Hub Belgrade is one of over 100 local Impact Hubs and connects impact-driven entrepreneurs, creators, innovators and intrapreneurs within the Western Balkan region. They have great experience in supporting social startups, hosting community events, exploring sustainable entrepreneurship and creative leadership.
- Wikimedia Serbia is part of the Wikimedia family and the first Wikimedia chapter in the Western Balkan region, founded in 2005. The entire team boasts a wealth of expertise on Free Knowledge. Back in 2021, Wikimedia Serbia had already supported the UNLOCK program by facilitating a workshop on community building and management.
3 good reasons for collaboration
What are our core motivations for this collaboration, you ask? Here are a few:
- We aim to strengthen and build our capacities through joint growth, frequent exchange and by challenging one other. Frankly, our partners are awesome and with each bringing their unique expertise to the table, we will be able to further advance the program.
- By coming together we can also expand our international networks. This not only helps to increase the awareness for the program, and in return attract and support even more innovators from the regions; but it also allows us to pull from a larger pool of experts who can lend their knowledge and skills set to our program participants.
- Working across sectors, we hope to bring the Open Knowledge community and innovation driven communities closer together. We hope that they will find fruitful and long-term ways of collaborating as well, strengthening an innovation ecosystem for Free Knowledge. This is what we aim for.
